David Lieberman, who has covered the media business for USA Today, has been hired to be executive editor at Deadline Hollywood.
Lieberman will report to Deadline.com editor-in-chief Nikki Finke on editorial matters and to PMC founder and chief executive Jay Penske on strategic initiatives.
“I’ve long admired David Lieberman’s journalism at USA Today not just because he’s so knowledgeable and well-sourced and accurate but also because he can explain very complex issues in an engaging and readable way,” said Finke in a statement.
Prior to joining USA Today, Lieberman was media and entertainment editor for BusinessWeek, economics reporter for The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, reporter and editor at TV Guide, editorial writer for The Hartford Courant, and reporter for The Hartford Advocate. He is an adjunct professor at the Fordham University Graduate School of Business.
He spent the 2003-2004 academic year as a fellow with Columbia University’s Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism, a program that annually gives 10 business journalists the opportunity to study at Columbia’s graduate schools.
