Sandy Sugawara, the business editor at the Washington Post, has named Jason Ukman as the paper’s new economics editor, according to an internal e-mail announcement.
“Jason’s strong line editing and thoughtful direction have helped guide coverage on major stories in recent months, from the uprising in Tibet and the aftermath of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in Pakistan to the devastating earthquake in central China. Jason has also worked closely with the web, something we hope he will continue in his new job.
“A Northwestern grad with local roots in Howard County, Jason joined the Post in 2001, spending the past seven years in a number of editing roles on the Foreign desk and a 2004 stint as a reporter on Metro. He will start his new job on August 26, after the Olympics.”
