The following announcement was made by Talib Amir and Adam Kuczynski, who oversee the spot news desk at Dow Jones Newswires:
We are pleased to announce that Nathan Becker and Katie Rass will be joining the Spot News desk as copy editors.
Nate will join the desk May 9 from the Rewrite Desk, where he has been a copy reader since joining Newswires in 2009. Nate wrote about earnings and other breaking news, focusing on banks, telecom companies and chip makers. He also has worked on the WSJ sports desk for nearly a year editing copy, writing headlines and pulling together late-game coverage. Before moving to New York, Nate attended Truman State University near the Missouri-Iowa border, graduating in May 2008. He spent summer 2008 interning for MarketWatch in San Francisco writing about companies and winter 2008-2009 interning in Chicago at Bloomberg covering commodities markets.
Katie will start May 2. She comes to Newswires having worked as a copy editor at the International Herald Tribune in 2010, where she worked mainly on the financial desk. Prior to that, Katie worked as a staff editor at the New York Times News Service, where she edited Times articles for wire service subscribers.
She completed an editing internship with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund in the summer of 2007 at Temple University, and worked as a reporter and copy editor at the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram starting in 2006.
