Two editors confirm they're leaving SmartMoney.com

Executive editor Michael DeSenne confirmed to Talking Biz News that he’s leaving his position with SmartMoney.com next month.

“I’m leaving effective Feb. 8,” said DeSenne “I work out of DC. I’ll be writing about money and investing on a freelance basis. Other SmartMoney staff are leaving as well but I’d prefer not to name names.”

DeSenne became executive editor in 2007. He edits stories covering the stock market, corporate and economic news, and political developments. Before joining SmartMoney.com in 2000, DeSenne was a copy editor for Dow Jones Newswires, and before that, a reporter and editor for several business weeklies.

One other SmartMoney.com staff member that confirmed their departure was associate editor Stacey Bradford.

Bradford said: “I was laid off two weeks ago.  I will continue to work on my book for the Wall Street Journal, which comes out in June, and freelance.”

Bradford, an associate editor since 2000, covers real estate, health care, health insurance, life insurance, elder care, autos and the job market. Before joining SmartMoney.com in 1997, Bradford was a reporter for two years at Financial World magazine.

SmartMoney.com editor Tom Weber declined to disclose other business journalists who had been laid off.
