Two Dow Jones biz journalists named to fund board

Neal Lipschutz, senior vice president and managing editor of Dow Jones Newswires, and Cathy Panagoulias, an assistant managing editor for The Wall Street Journal, were elected to the board of directors of the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund on Friday.

Lipschutz has global responsibility for Dow Jones Newswires editorial content. He regularly writes “Point of View” columns for the Newswires. Prior to his appointment in January 2007, he was vice president of Dow Jones Newswires, supervising news staffs in the Americas and serving as the chief arbiter of and spokesman for worldwide news policies, coverage and standards.

Panagoulias is responsible for recruiting journalists for The Wall Street Journal. She runs the college intern program and deals with a wide range of staff issues including training and career development. Before assuming her current position in 1999, she was national editor and presided over a major acceleration in the pace of news coverage that kept the Journal ahead of the competition in such major areas as telecom, the Internet and online trading. She joined the Journal’s monitor desk in 1976, moving to the copy desk in 1978 and to The Asian Wall Street Journal’s copy desk in Hong Kong later that year.
