The Tucson Citizen announced Friday that the Gannett-owned paper would publish its last edition on Saturday, meaning that its business editor is now out of a job.

Teresa Truelsen, business editor of the Citizen and of its monthly publication Tucson Business Edge, notes that the paper didn’t really have a business desk.

“I am the de facto business editor, but we have no reporters,” said Truelsen via e-mail. “Everyone contributed stories that were business related. If you want to recognize us, just say the staff of the Tucson Citizen. Thanks for thinking of us. We appreciate it.”

Truelsen, who attended the University of Arizona and Truman State University, had been at the paper since 1996 in a variety of jobs, including book editor and a stint as a designer.

A St. Louis native, Truelsen and her husband, who also worked at the paper, moved to Tucson permanently in 1994. They have two daughters.
