Trish Regan leaves CNBC

Chris Ariens of TV Newser reports that CNBC anchor Trish Regan has left the business news network after a dispute about her future role.

Ariens writes, “Regan, who co-hosted the 11am show, ‘The Call’ with Melissa Francis and Larry Kudlow, was going to be pulled off the show and asked to stay on as a reporter. Instead, she chose to leave, insiders tell us.

“‘Her desk is cleared out,’ a source says.

“‘Trish is under contract,’ spokesperson Brian Steel tells TVNewser, which means a separation agreement is the next step before Regan can move on to her next TV gig.

“In addition to anchoring, Regan reports for CNBC’s documentaries, including the ‘Marijuana, Inc.’ franchise which ranks as the highest-rated documentary on the network. Regan’s book on the subject, ‘Joint Ventures‘ comes out next month.”

  • What a dumb decision by CNBC , fire Kudlow and Drury , and I will watch FOX full time, hope she goes to FOX .

    • It is sad; they're re-running Marajuana Inc., again; it's the 3rd time they've done so, too. That proves up the advantages of running two TVs from a splitter and just bifurcate my attention between them and this desktop computer terminal.
The trick is when the markets are open.

  • Trish is a beauty, and although she had an original thought so far as I can tell, she's not dumb. She'll be a star at FOX or even Bloomberg, but probably FOX. She could even make the jump to general news. I imagine her agent's phone is ringing off the hook right now.

  • The new Hobby of cnbc management of B.S.is fire the best and kip dumb Kudlow,Drury,Melissa F. fire all cnbc managemant ,i will watch fox full time .

  • she was fired primarily for her hotness.Melissa I fear is next.Compare the appearence of erin to when she out interviewing.Erin is very plain at work but a beauty outside..I guess they dont want any hot women.I switched to FOX last Dec.

  • I feel it's time for her to go.
Hubris goes before her fall from grace.
She seemed too uncomfortable with miss frances' ego.

  • FIRE the dopey Melissa What's her Name !!!

CNBC ALWAYS fires their BEST talent.

    What a bunch of losers!!

  • She cut Larry Kudlow off, rightly so, after he cut her off, and I never saw her again. He deserved it by the way, but it was only somewhat subtly done. The look on his face was classic. Take care Trish! You deserve a better work environment.
Of course one could say she never should have done that, unprofessional, Kudlow has seniority, he's a man, he's old, etc etc.
At least that's my take on the disappearance, as it was right after. I could be wrong.
Maybe she was just 'Damning The Torpedos' as she had already been given the ax. Who knows. Very difficult.

  • A great move -- her knowledge of investing & economics was atrocious. It seemed to be limited to the far right Republican, hedge fund agenda. Regan was never tempted to be unbiased or accurate in reporting. CNBC has strayed from news to pretty faces with little knowledge, experience or professionalism in reporting. Firing Regan is a step in the right direction returning to unbiased business news.

    • You're kidding, right. Far right Republican, get serious. Because she's not an extreme lefty, like so many on CNBC (MSNBC light) doesn't even make her republican, much less far right. I bet she voted for Obama.
