The Triangle Business Journal in Raleigh was the fastest-growing paper in the American City Business Journals company, which operates 40 print business weeklies, writes editor Sougata Mukherjee.

Mukherjee writes, “Triangle Business Journal was the fastest-growing publication in 2018 among the 40 business journals spread across the country under the American City Business Journals’ umbrella. In 2018, our paid subscription base grew by 13.67 percent – a new record for us when compared to the annual growth we have experienced in recent years. Not only that, your newspaper also ranked No. 1 among the 40 properties in number of subscriptions gained during the year. And that’s the raw number that competes with some of the largest metros in the country. So how did this happen?

“While our reporters, researchers, designers and editors can certainly take credit, I believe this record growth mirrors the region’s economic vibrancy as well.

“Wake County is one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation. From 2013 to 2017, the Raleigh area’s gross domestic product grew from $64 billion to $83 billion — a 30 percent increase. During the same time, North Carolina’s GDP grew by 15 percent (from $471 billion to $540 billion). In size, while Charlotte is bigger, the Queen City’s GDP growth was slower than Raleigh’s during the same period.”
