Mark Heinzl, a former business reporter for the Wall Street Journal in its Toronto bureau, has been named the Toronto Star’s new business editor, according to a story in Saturday’s paper.
Nicolaas Van Rijn wrote, “The current debate about a fair minimum wage in Ontario proves how vital business is to the everyday lives of Ontarians, says veteran business journalist Mark Heinzl.
“And Heinzl, who takes on the job of Star business editor on Monday, says drawing connections like that – demonstrating daily that business affects the everyday lives of everyone – will be among the top priorities for the award-winning department he’s taking over.
“Star editor-in-chief Fred Kuntz says that’s just what’s needed.
“‘Mark is well known for his solid, fearless coverage of business as a reporter,’ said Kuntz, himself a former Star business editor, in announcing Heinzl’s appointment. ‘Now as an editor he can help infuse all of the Star‘s business coverage with the same sense of authority and daring.'”
