The Globe and Mail on Tuesday named Derek DeCloet editor of the business section, replacing Elena Cherney, who will become the paper’s managing editor.
“Mr. DeCloet, an award-winning columnist, had been the ROB’s managing editor since 2009, a role in which he supervised much of the day-to-day running of the section. He will now oversee all business and investing content in print and online, as well as the Report on Business magazine.
“See the paper’s coverage of the announcement by editor-in-chief John Stackhouse here.
“Ms. Cherney, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, takes on the paper’s number-two position, replacing David Walmsley, who is rejoining the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., where he will become director of news content. Also part of the shuffle: Sinclair Stewart, the globe’s national editor, will assume the title of editor, news and sports.”
