India Yarborough has been hired by the Topeka Capital-Journal to be its new business reporter.

She writes, “As you may have guessed, I am The Topeka Capital-Journal’s new business reporter — replacing Morgan Chilson, who left me some rather large shoes to fill.

“Each week, I plan to produce a business page featuring a column such as this. Some weeks this column might be more of a reflection on an event in which I took part. Others might feature tidbits of business news that didn’t make their way into articles. And occasionally, I hope to offer insight, and maybe even a unique perspective, on a community issue.

“The weekly business page will also feature topical community business news and regular features of local businesses that might not always get their turn in the spotlight.

“I plan for most of those features to focus on minority-owned businesses, because I think a diversity of backgrounds and voices should be represented in news truly meant to serve an entire community. When I say ‘minority-owned businesses,’ I mean businesses owned by women and people of color who are often less-represented in the business world.”
