Tempe-based Times Media is apparently expanding outside of Arizona. Specifically, the media company has purchased Southland Publishing, a California media company. Times media purchased the company for an undisclosed price.
Times Media gains five newsweeklies – the LA Downtown News, the Pasadena Weekly, the VC Reporter, the Argonaut, and the San Diego City beat. Times Media has traditionally focused on local community news.
Steve Strickbine, the president and founder of TImes Media Group, offered this statement:
“We really like the footprint in L.A. and those communities. Our commitment is to community news. It will never go out of style.”
