Times Herald-Record to cease print production in Wallkill

Gannett’s Times Herald-Record is planning on shutting down its print and production facility in Wallkill and relocate the operations to a plant in Rockaway, New Jersey. As of now, the newspaper covers Orange, Sullivan, Ulster and Pike, and PA counties.

The move will make nearly 100 staff members redundant before mid-May.

A source added that the “closure of the plant is a sad day for many skilled workers who spent decades printing newspapers.  These are skilled workers who may not be able to find comparable work.”

Additionally, the publication also filed a notice with the New York State Department of Labor on February 6 saying 94 employees would lose their jobs during the 14-day period beginning on May 10. These employees are not part of any union.

However, readers will not suffer as the move is not expected to affect publication and home deliveries will continue to be made at the usual times.
