Time magazine expands online tech presence

February 1, 2011

Time magazine has struck a partnership deal with the Technologizer tech blog to sell its advertising, and it named a new editor for its Techland blog.

David Cohen of MediaBistro.com writes, “TIME.com also announced the addition of John Tayman as editor of technology channel Techland. Tayman has served as an editor and writer for publications including Men’s Health, Business 2.0, Men’s Journal, and New York Times Sports Magazine.

“TIME.com managing editor Jim Frederick said:

We are delighted to have Harry McCracken, one of the finest tech journalists in the world, under the TIME umbrella. Technologizer is a perfect representation of Harry’s own editorial sensibility and personality, and Technologizer is an ideal complement to Techland.

John has big plans for broadening and expanding Techland’s appeal while never losing the geek cred that is the essence of Techland’s core identity. With Techland a little more than a year old, we are delighted to have John, an editor with the experience, the vision, and the leadership to take Techland to the next level.”
