Thomson Reuters acquires two publications

Thomson Reuters has acquired BioWorld and its companion publication, Medical Device Daily, from Thompson Media Group for an undisclosed amount.

A story on BtoB Media states, “The two digital-only newsletters and related online products, which serve the biotechnology and medical technology verticals, were formerly part of AHC Media, a unit of Thompson Media. AHC’s remaining healthcare newsletters in the fields of clinical medicine and healthcare management remain with Thompson Media.

“More than 20 BioWorld and Medical Device Daily staffers have joined Thomson Reuters, including the entire editorial team, said Donald R. Johnston, senior director-editorial for BioWorld Today and Medical Device Daily.

“In late May, Thompson Media Group sold the publishing brands and businesses of Sheshunoff and A.S. Pratt to LexisNexis Legal & Professional, together with Reed Elsevier Properties.”
