Ian Thomas has been hired as the editor of Front Office Sports.
Previously, he spent more than four years as a staff writer at the Sports Business Journal, where he covered hockey and soccer focusing primarily on the NHL and MLS. He has also worked for Bloomberg, Crain’s New York Business and the Financial Times Group.
Based in New York, he is a graduate of Stony Brook University and the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
In addition, Front Office Sports hires Michael McCarthy as a senior writer.
McCarthy joins Front Office Sports after four years as a reporter/producer for Sporting News. In his new role as a senior writer, McCarthy will be tasked with providing in-depth coverage and analysis across all areas of the business while still being deeply involved in covering the sports media landscape.
McCarthy will also continue to serve as an adjunct journalism professor at Rutgers, a role he has held since 2015.
