Third top editor leaves NJBiz for new publication

Anjalee Khemlani

The deputy managing editor of NJBiz has become the third top editor to leave the business news publication in the past month for the same startup.

Anjalee Khemlani had been named the deputy ME at NJBiz in January. She announced on Twitter on Wednesday that she’s left NJBiz for ROI-NJ, which plans to begin publishing next month. Khemlani will be a managing editor.

Eric Strauss, who had been NJBiz’s managing editor, departed last week to join ROI-NJ as another managing editor. In August, NJBiz editor in chief Tom Bergeron left the publication and is one of the founders of ROI-NJ.

ROI-NJ’s site will go live on Sept. 12. The first weekly print edition is set for Oct. 9.

Khemlani had been the health care reporter for NJBiz since September 2015. After being promoted to deputy managing editor, she continued to be the publication’s lead reporter on health care.

Khemlani, who graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism, worked at the Press of Atlantic City from 2012-2014. She left there for a short stint at Russia Today, a television station based in Washington, D.C.
