Jeffrey Kanige, who became editor in chief of TheStreet.com a year ago, is becoming creative director of the company’s new custom media division, Blue Chip Content Studio.

Tara Murphy, currently managing editor, will assume control of TheStreet’s editorial operations. She joined the company in March.

The announcement comes on the heels of the company announcing last week that USA Today editor in chief David Callaway will become its CEO. Kanige joined TheDeal, which is part of TheStreet, in 1999, and became editor in chief of both in September 2015.

“Jeff’s lengthy experience with TheStreet and The Deal makes him the perfect content leader for the new division,” said Larry Kramer, chairman of TheStreet, in a statement. “Nobody understands our brand partners and the audience they’re trying to reach on TheStreet and The Deal better than Jeff.”

Blue Chip will work with marketers to develop customized content using information about deals, directors and executives from BoardEx, another part of TheStreet.
