Tara Murphy, the editor of TheStreet.com, has resigned from the financial news site to pursue other interests.
“We loved her and are sorry to see her go, but will begin looking both internally and externally for a replacement,” said CEO David Callaway in an email to Talking Biz News.
Murphy was hired as managing editor of the site in March 2016 and promoted to editor in November 2016.
Murphy led editorial operations for the company’s portfolio of institutional and consumer finance brands and oversaw the newsroom’s global expansion as well as mobile, video and social strategies.
Prior to joining TheStreet, Murphy was the president of KATYA Inc., an online women’s apparel company. She had previously served as director of business development at Hearst Digital Media as well as managing editor of Cosmopolitan.com.Before Hearst, she spent six years at Forbes, where she served as senior anchor of the Forbes.com Video Network. Murphy was formerly a staff reporter at TheStreet.com, and she began her professional career in U.S. institutional equity sales at Merrill Lynch in New York.
