The Wrap hires business and technology editor

Joan E. Solsman has been hired by entertainment industry site The Wrap as business and technology editor, a new position based in New York in which she will lead coverage of digital media and focus on technology’s impact on the traditional entertainment industry.

She will dig deep into the businesses and new media platforms that are changing content. She will also assist in running The Wrap’s Grill conference, the industry’s leading annual conversation about convergence.

Solsman joins The Wrap from CNET, where has been a senior writer covering digital media. Before that she was a reporter with Dow Jones.

At CNET, her beat focused on the heavyweights of online media such as Pandora, Netflix, and Apple; start-ups propelling industry change like Spotify and Aereo; and the traditional giants morphing themselves to maintain power, such as Comcast, Disney, and Clear Channel.

She is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate.
