Andrew Peaple has been hired as a news editor for The Wire China, which covers business news in Asia’s biggest country.
He previously was the media and research director at the China-Britain Business Council, as well as the co-founder and presenter of the podcast ‘Asia Matters’. Prior to these roles he had 16 years’ experience as a financial journalist with The Wall Street Journal, much of which was spent in Asia.
“Asia Matters” delves into the biggest stories taking place in the world’s most exciting region.
His last role at the WSJ was running the Heard on Street column from its Hong Kong bureau, where he also ran a team of reporters across the Asia region covering the full range of markets and companies.
Previously Peaple was the WSJ’s Europe resources editor in London, overseeing coverage of Europe’s major resource companies from BP to Glencore, and OPEC.
Prior to that he was deputy editor of Heard on the Street in London, where he wrote and edited columns about corporate and economic issues in Europe. Before moving back to London, Peaple wrote the Heard column from the WSJ’s Beijing bureau.
