The Real Deal hires McCabe as senior news editor

Alec McCabe

Real estate news site The Real Deal has hired Alec McCabe as a senior news editor.

McCabe previously spent 27 years at Bloomberg News, most recently as a senior editor guiding coverage for emerging markets during U.S. hours, breaking news mostly about Latin America with occasional China-and Russia- related stories as well.

He also was executive producer of Bloomberg Podcasts for two and a half years, Americas training team leader, Americas finance team leader, enterprise editor on the finance team and global newsroom recruiter.

McCabe also worked in Hong Kong for Bloomberg as the bureau chief and as an enterprise editor.

He’s a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
