Jeffrey Trachtenberg of The Wall Street Journal takes a look at the books about disgraced money manager Bernard Madoff coming out in the next year.
“A second Madoff title, Andrew Kirtzman’s ‘Betrayal: The Life and Lies of Bernie Madoff,’ is also being published Aug. 11 by Harper, an imprint of News Corp.’s HarperCollins Publishers. That book was originally scheduled for October publication.
“A third title, Jerry Oppenheimer’s ‘Madoff With the Money,’ which is being published by John Wiley & Sons Inc., hits the bookstores Aug. 12 instead of Sept. 15.
“‘Nobody wants to be second, third or fourth,’ said Adrian Zackheim, publisher of Portfolio. ‘You are either first or you get lost in the pack, or you have to come after all the other titles and have a different take.'”
