The Intercept hires Hvistendahl to cover tech, national security and China

The Intercept has hired Mara Hvistendahl as its new investigative reporter covering tech, national security and China for the company.

Previously, Hvistendahl was with Science Magazine which she joined in 2011 as contributing editor and China bureau chief. Later on, she was promoted to the post of contributing correspondent at the magazine.

Prior to that, she was a national fellow at New America and also served as a correspondent at Chronicle of Higher Education.

In addition, Hvistendahl is also the author of “The Scientist and the Spy: A true story of China, the FBI, and industrial espionage” from Riverhead Books.

Hvistendahl is a B.A. in comparative literature and Chinese from Swarthmore College and holds a master’s degree in magazine journalism from Columbia University.
