Tech news site The Information plans to launch an opinion section next month and has hired former Quartz editor in chief Kevin Delaney as a senior editor, reports Kerry Flynn of CNN Business.
Flynn reports, “Jessica Lessin, founder and EIC of The Information, told me her site will launch an Opinion section in January: ‘If you look at Opinion across the media landscape right now, I think it’s just become so predictable, so ideologically driven, and frankly, just a little boring… Our goal, in a nutshell, is to inform, rather than to troll.’ Lessin said The Information plans to feature the work of ‘smart industry experts who are really in the trenches.’ The site has already soft-launched the section, featuring columns by Block Party founder Tracy Chou on the ‘co-founder mantra’ and former Facebook data scientist Roddy Lindsay on social media regulation. Future contributors include Joanna Coles, Dick Costolo, Nadia Eghbal, Arlan Hamilton and Brian Pitz…”
