The Information names Peers its ME

Martin Peers has been named managing editor of The Information, a subscription tech news site.

Before joining The Information in October 2014, Peers was media and marketing bureau chief at the Wall Street Journal, overseeing the paper’s coverage of the media and entertainment industries. Before that, he was deputy editor of Heard on the Street, the paper’s financial analysis section.

“We’re just thrilled he’s taking on the role as we grow our team of reporters,” said Jessica Lessin, founder and editor in chief of The Information, in an email to Talking Biz News.

The Information’s full-time staff has grown from seven to 15 this year with reporters in New York and San Francisco.

Peers has been a senior editor and a columnist for The Information since September 2014.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
