Kaya Yurieff

Laura Mandaro and Amir Efrati of The Information sent out the following on Friday to the staff:

Team,

We’re excited to announce that Kaya Yurieff will be joining us as a creator economy reporter, starting April 12 in New York.

Kaya (pronounced like kayak) has been a technology reporter at CNN for the past four years, where she reported on social media platforms, content creators and gig economy workers, including the popularity of LinkedIn influencersYouTube creator burnout and Instacart tip baiting.

Previously Kaya covered spot news for The Street. She grew up outside Burlington, Vt., and graduated from George Washington University.

For the creator economy role, Kaya will helm a newsletter analyzing content platforms and the individuals and companies building big businesses on them, including people who make a living directly from fans. She will build off the great coverage The Information has done in the past year on Patreon, OnlyFans, TikTok, Clubhouse and more, via scoops from Kate, Alex and our Hong Kong team.

Welcome Kaya!
