The Information hires Toonkel to cover media and telecom

Jessica Toonkel

The Information managing editor Martin Peers and editor Jessica Lessin sent out the following announcement to the staff:

We’re thrilled to announce that Jessica Toonkel is joining The Information as a media and telecom reporter in New York. Her appointment is part of the expansion of our coverage into the broader media and telecommunications industries.

Jessica is a reporter with deep experience covering both media and the finance world. She has spent the past seven years at Reuters, where she has been the U.S. Media Correspondent since 2016, breaking stories about media consolidation and about moves by Facebook and Amazon into digital media. Before the media beat, Jessica covered M&A and finance.

Before Reuters, she worked for Crain Communications, Institutional Investor and American Lawyer. Jessica graduated from Vassar College. She’ll join us in New York on June 4.

Please welcome Jessica Toonkel!
