Tech news site The Information has hired Sylvia Varnham O’Regan to cover Facebook and social media companies.
She will start in March.
O’Regan currently covers development and finance for The Real Deal in New York. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, GQ, The Guardian, Los Angeles Times and other publications.
Before moving to the U.S. in 2016, she spent three years working as a news reporter for SBS Australia, covering immigration and politics.
In 2017, O’Regan graduated with an MA in politics and global affairs from Columbia Journalism School, where she was honored with the James A. Wechsler Memorial Award for best reporting on a national issue. She previously earned degrees in law and arts from The University of Auckland.
