The Information hires Facebook reporter

Cory Weinberg, a real estate reporter at the San Francisco Business Times, has been hired by The Information to cover Facebook, its impact on consumers and business, and other trends in tech and business.

He starts his new job on Dec. 14.

“The real estate and housing beat at the Business Times has been fascinating and rewarding, but I became really curious about the business of tech companies and how they’re driving the economy,” said Weinberg in an email to Talking Biz News. “The Information has a vision for explaining how those companies tick, and it’s exciting.”

Weinberg has been with the Business Times since August 2014. He previously worked at Bloomberg BusinessWeek and at the Chronicle of Higher Education.

He is a graduate of George Washington University, where he was editor of the student newspaper.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
