R.S. Douglas is the new business reporter at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, and she introduced herself to readers on Sunday.
Douglas writes, “I first majored in anthropology because the idea of telling the story of someone who never had the opportunity to was alluring. I quickly realized, however, anthropology is much more physical labor than what I was cut out for.
“I took Robert Wernsman’s introductory journalism course my sophomore year, and that was it — I fell in love with reporting.
“My fascination with economics and government policy led me to the Media Strategies degree. Media Strategies is a combination of journalism principles and business practices.
“In August of this year, I walked the stage at Texas Tech, and now I am the business reporter for the A-J.”
