Jamie McGee, who had been working at the Nashville Business Journal, has been hired by The Tennessean in Nashville to cover banking, finance and technology.
She joins her former boss, Lance Williams, who left the Business Journal to become the Tennessean’s business editor in November 2012.
“Three of the five reporters on the business team have started in the last month, and we are very excited about the new direction and energy of the team,” said Williams in an email to Talking Biz News.
McGee, a Nashville native, had been covering the tourism and hospitality beat, which also includes music and entertainment, sports business and restaurants, for the Business Journal.
Before that, McGee worked at Bloomberg, where she covered the insurance industry during the depths of the financial crisis. During her last year at Bloomberg, she was largely responsible for coverage of Berkshire Hathaway, which is the company owned by Warren Buffett.
Prior to that, McGee was a reporter with The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., where she covered local government issues.
McGee received her bachelor’s degree in journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill and her master’s degree from Columbia University.
