TechCrunch senior editor Lawler leaving for VC firm

TechCrunch senior editor Ryan Lawler announced that he is leaving the tech news site to join a venture capital firm in August.

Lawler writes on Medium, “I’ve been pretty lucky in my career. I love technology and apps and startups and count myself as extraordinarily fortunate to have been in the employ of TechCrunch, where I was paid to geek out and surround myself with all sorts of people who are building the apps, devices, and services of the future.

“Not just that, but I also got to work with the absolute best team in tech news. All of the credit for that belongs to the brilliant editorial team that has been assembled at TechCrunch by TC editors Eric Eldon, Alexia Tsotsis, and Matthew Panzarino.

“The staff is awesome and I truly believe that top to bottom, the TC masthead is as good as it’s ever been. TechCrunch today is so much more than just an awesome collection of bylines. The amount of teamwork, collaboration, and dedication to each other that this team has is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
