Burkholder is a recent graduate of the undergraduate engineering school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is now pursuing an M.S.E. in bioengineering and engineering entrepreneurship. She has used this foundation in science and business to report on startups, economic policy, health care, and more in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She held a top editor role at her school’s magazine, 34th Street, and was a finalist for the 2020 Nora Magid Mentorship Prize.
She is also a 2020 alumna of the Dow Jones News Fund program in data journalism. Her work has appeared in Philadelphia Magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and PublicSource.
