Tech site Protocol to launch on Wednesday

Protocol, the new tech news website backed by the publisher of Politico, will officially launch Wednesday.

Also launching Wednesday is “Source Code,” Protocol editor at large David Pierce’s daily guide to what’s happening in tech, both from inside the business of technology and across the transformation of the global economy.

“Source Code” will be delivered each weekday morning via email, audio briefing and Slack app.

“At the dawn of this new decade, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment,” said president Tammy Wincup in a statement. “Tech has transformed every aspect of modern life — from where we work to how we travel to what we eat, believe, and who we love.  It has created existential challenges for some industries, and in the next decade, it will do the same for all industries. We’re launching Protocol to serve decision-makers in tech, mainstream businesses, and public policy who need clear, unbiased reporting on the reality of tech — where it is today and where it’s headed tomorrow.”

On Thursday, the news site will launch “Braintrust,” A weekly roundup of expert voices answering the pivotal questions facing tech and business. “Braintrust” will be featured on protocol.com.

Later this month, Protocol will launch “Manuals, a deep-dive series of special reports explaining the fundamentals, applications and future of transformative technologies. The first “Manual” will be on quantum computing.

Protocol plans to roll out additional products after launch, including additional newsletters and a series of live events in multiple cities.
