New tech news site Protocol announced Wednesday that it has hired six more editorial staffers.

“The rules of tech journalism are about to change,” said Protocol president Tammy Wincup in a statement.  “We want to be invaluable to every decision-maker experiencing the seismic impact of technology innovation.”

The new hires are:

Demian Bulwa will join Protocol as head of investigations and projects. Previously, Bulwa was metro editor at the San Francisco Chronicle, leading local and regional news coverage, co-hosting the 5th & Mission podcast, and editing narrative stories and projects. In 2017, he led the Chronicle’s coverage of the 2017 firestorm in California’s wine country that earned the Scripps Howard Award for breaking news.

Kat Borgerding joins as audience engagement editor, overseeing Protocol’s social media and audience engagement efforts. Borgerding joins Protocol from Vox Media, where she was a senior engagement manager for Vox and Recode. Previously, she spent four years at Politico in roles overseeing web production, social and digital strategy.

Tom Krazit will report on cloud computing. Krazit is a veteran tech journalist, having covered technology for various news organizations including IDG, CNET and GeekWire and served as executive editor of Gigaom and the Structure conference series. Most recently, he was editor in chief of Mostly Cloudy, an independent newsletter covering cloud computing.

Karyne Levy will run the copy desk. Levy has been an editor for almost 20 years at various organizations, including at CNET, Business Insider, NerdWallet and most recently at Scribd, where she helped create the original content program.

JP Mangalindan will be a contributing editor focused on large tech companies and tech culture. A seasoned tech journalist, Mangalindan most recently covered the intersection of business and technology as Yahoo Finance’s chief tech correspondent. His work has appeared in Fortune, GQ, Mashable and New York Magazine.

Levi Sumagaysay will report on Silicon Valley. Levi joins Protocol from the San Jose Mercury News, where she was a tech reporter. A former business news editor and writer of Good Morning Silicon Valley, which was one of the earliest blogs to chronicle the rise of the internet, Sumagaysay has written or edited technology news since the first dot-com boom.
