Tech journalist Hardy leaving NY Times for Google Cloud

Quentin Hardy

New York Times business editor Dean Murphy sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Quentin Hardy, who has covered technology for The Times since 2011, is leaving for Google Cloud, where he will head the company’s effort to demystify its cloud computing business for customers.
Quentin was key to the Times’s Bits blog for many years, and has been able to make geeky trends like “software defined networking” and “containerization” understandable to our readers. He was early to identify the rise of cloud computing and the increasing importance of software, both of which have changed how people do their computing.
Before coming to The Times, Quentin worked at The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
“I’m a third-generation journalist on both sides of my family, and the Times has always been the gold standard,” Quentin said. “Coming here exceeded my high expectations, both in the brains and the dedication of all my colleagues.”
His last day is February 3. We wish him well (and have asked him to reveal all Google’s secrets to us once he starts).
