Technology journalist Katie Boehret, who left Recode this summer, has joined public relations firm Burson-Marsteller as a senior director.

She is based in Washington and will focus on helping clients craft their brand stories for a variety of audiences and platforms.

Boehret spent 14 years — 12 of which were at The Wall Street Journal — working closely with renowned technology journalist Walt Mossberg,  She joined the publication in 2002 as a reporting assistant and rose to be national technology columnist. In this role she wrote “The Digital Solution,” a weekly tech column championing average consumers, created weekly videos to accompany her columns and appeared regularly on ABC and the WSJ Digits Live show.

Boehret also played an integral role in the launch of online publication All Things Digital and managed speakers at the highly regarded D Conference. In 2014 she joined startup Recode as deputy reviews editor/senior reviewer, where she continued her popular weekly technology reviews and videos. She then transitioned to The Verge when Recode was acquired in 2015 by Vox Media. “I’m excited to join the team at Burson-Marsteller to help some of the world’s most iconic brands tell their stories,” said Boehret in a statement. “My focus has always been on the practical ways people use technology in their everyday lives, and I look forward to helping companies better understand and connect with people in a genuine, valuable way.”

Boehret earned her Master’s in journalism from Georgetown University and her Bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from University of Delaware.
