John Patrick Pullen is departing Fortune magazine at the end of the week after working there full-time for the past two years and as a freelancer for the previous nine.

Pullen helped the magazine transition from a free website to a premium subscription product. He was among the leading traffic drivers to the website, writing some of its most read stories. He also hired and managed some of its most active, well-sourced, and prolific freelance contributors.

Pullen also helped with the conference side of Fortune’s business, which included attending/reporting on the ultra-exclusive CEO Initiative, editing coverage from events such as the Most Powerful Women annual gathering, and remotely coordinating coverage of the Fortune Global Tech Forum in Guangzhou, China.

He previously was a news editor at Time magazine and was a contributor to Wired magazine. He also wrote for Entrepreneur, Quartz and Men’s Journal.
