Emily L. Mahoney, the real estate reporter for The Tampa Bay Times, is becoming its political editor for the paper, but will continue to report stories.
She had previously been a Florida government reporter for the paper in Tallahassee.
Before joining the Times, Mahoney was a data fellow for the Houston Chronicle. Before that, she served as an investigative reporting intern for the Miami Herald and as a reporter for Cronkite News. She also worked as a reporting intern for the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting and held the posts of an investigative reporting fellow and international reporter for News21 and Cronkite Borderlands Initiative, respectively.
She has also interned at The Arizona Republic and worked as an investigative reporter at The State Press.
Mahoney received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in mass communication from Arizona State University.
