Robert Feder of the Chicago Sun-Times takes a look at “American Greed: Scams, Scoundrels and Scamdals,” a new CNBC show the premieres on Thursday.
Feder wrote, “Narrated by actor Stacy Keach (owing to Kurtis’ commitments to rival A&E), the series takes the familiar form of documentary-style recreations of crimes and interviews with key players.
“But what makes ‘American Greed’ unique is that it’s a first for the business news channel — and that all the crimes reported here are financial in nature.
“In the opener, produced by Kurtis staffer Sharon Barrett, one of the segments recounts the exploits of a Ponzi scam artist who left a trail of suckers from New Hampshire to Nevada. Sad as their tale is, it’s hard to feel sorry for victims who knew the promises of unlimited wealth were too good to be true all along.”
