Kristi Swartz has rejoined the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an enterprise reporter focused on climate and the environment.
She is taking the role Meris Lutz had on the business team before Lutz left this spring to take an editing position with an energy trade publication. Her position is supported by a grant from Green South Foundation and Journalism Funding Partners.
Swartz will work closely with Drew Kann on coverage about climate change, how a changing climate is impacting residents, businesses and communities and how each are contending with these issues.
Previously, Swartz worked at Floodlight News, a nonprofit environment and climate news service, as an investigative reporter.
She was also a reporter with Energywire, an E&E News product, ans has written about utility and energy topics in the Southeast, including the region’s transition away from coal to natural gas and the sporadic growth of renewable energy, particularly solar. Other areas of focus include state regulatory policy and nuclear power.
Before joining E&E News, She was a business reporter at the AJC and covered utilities and energy for The Palm Beach Post. She also worked at newspapers in North Carolina.
Swartz graduated from the University of Maryland in 1998 with a degree in journalism.
