Suspects don't show in retrial of murder of Forbes editor

The trial to determine who killed Forbes editor Paul Klebnikov in Russia started in Moscow on Thursday, but two of the defendants failed to show for the hearing, according to the New York Times.

Steven Lee Myers wrote, “The Prosecutor General’s Office declined to discuss the events on Thursday, which like the previous trial occurred behind closed doors. A spokeswoman for the Moscow City Court, where the trial is taking place, also declined to elaborate beyond saying that the proceedings would resume March 14. It was not clear whether arrest warrants had been issued to bring the men to the court.

“Mr. Klebnikov, an American citizen of Russian ancestry, was shot to death outside his office in July 2004. He was one in a series of journalists before and since who have died in unsolved circumstances in Russia.”
