Lewis Lazare of the Chicago Business Journal writes about changes at the Chicago Sun-Times, including the reassignment of some of its business reporters.
Lazare writes, “The paper’s business coverage, however, has been affected by the recent move of three longtime business reporters — David Roeder, Sandra Guy and Francine Knowles — from the recently-launched, dedicated Grid business section back into the Sun-Times reporter pool. The three reporters initially were moved to Grid to buttress the reporting manpower there and help produce the weekly glossy Grid magazine in the Sunday Sun-Times. Grid the magazine has been reduced to once-monthly frequency from weekly.
“Now Roeder, Knowles and Guy function as general assignment reporters, while Grid does its thing. A new column called ‘Deeds & Deals’ also has just sprouted in the upfront news section of the hard-copy edition of Chicago Sun-Times.com — separate from Grid. Kirk described it as a ‘deals column as it relates to City Hall politics.'”
