Charles Forelle, the European finance editor for The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement:
I am extremely happy to announce that Jenny Strasburg is named to the new role of Senior Correspondent, European Finance.
In this job, which she’ll do from her desk in London and from planes and trains across the continent, Jenny will write widely on European banks, funds and insurers. She’ll continue to cover Deutsche Bank. And she’ll help mentor finance reporters in the region.
As anyone who has worked with Jenny on a story—or has sat within 25 yards of her—can testify, she is a tireless maestro of the craft of sourcing. She will deploy those talents, along with her keen knowledge of banking and her ocean-spanning Rolodex, to write finance stories of the highest caliber and guide others to do so, too.
Jenny is a graduate of New Mexico State University and started in newspapers in Texas. She went west to the San Francisco Examiner in 1999 as a business reporter. She moved to New York in 2005 to do a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship and dived headfirst into finance. Good move!
She covered hedge funds at Bloomberg and came to the Journal in 2008, just as the purring financial crisis became a roar. Jenny distinguished herself on our financial-crisis reporting team and blazed trails through a thicket of insider-trading scandals. She moved to London in 2013 to cover banking, assuming responsibility for Deutsche Bank at a vital time. By now, Jenny is known to just about every banker west of the Urals. I cannot wait to see what she tackles next.
Please join me in messaging her congratulations on Signal.
