Wall Street Journal editor in chief Matt Murray sent out the following on Tuesday:
Dear All:
Our colleague Louise Story has decided to leave The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones.
As chief news strategist and chief product and technology officer, a senior masthead role, Louise has played a central role in advancing our digital transformation and broadening the reach and impact of our journalism. She has brought in new skills, capabilities and ways of thinking that have elevated our journalism and greatly improved our product, technology and data experiences for our members. Her work has helped guide our coverage and accelerate our growth in audiences and subscribers over the past three years.
I’m personally grateful to Louise and will miss her strong work ethic, strategic mind, commitment to high-quality journalism, keen news judgment, and unique ability to connect text, video and audio, product, design, engineering and audiences. Her legacy includes a talented and diverse group of journalists and engineers that will continue to propel the Journal and Dow Jones forward.
Please join me in thanking Louise for her many contributions to The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones and wishing her luck in her future endeavors.
Matt
In an email to her Journal colleagues, Story wrote: “It’s been an honor editing your journalism, developing strategies and tactics with you to make our work more impactful and building new teams here that are helping the WSJ grow. Now the time has come for me to turn to new adventures. First up for me is a book project.”
