Stern, financial regulation editor at Reuters, is retiring

Linda Stern, who has been the financial regulation editor at Reuters since August, is retiring.

Her last day will be April 6, according to a Facebook post.

Stern’s career at Reuters dates back to 1987.  She contributed her award-winning “Stern Advice” personal finance column for two decades before coming on staff in Washington in 2010.

Before returning to the DC bureau, she had been Wall Street editor in New York, overseeing coverage of the U.S. stock market and helping manage fund investing coverage. Under her leadership, the stocks team redesigned its file, making “Stocks Buzz” a go-to resource for clients and regularly contributing broader investing stories.

She was also the wealth editor at Reuters, overseeing brokerage industry and mutual fund coverage.

Stern has also covered the Federal Reserve Board and taxes and written Cosmopolitan Magazine’s “Money” page.

She was part of the Newsweek team that won a National Magazine Award for its special report on the 9/11 attacks, and has published three books on self-employment and retirement.

Earlier in her career, she worked for the Journal of Commerce and Knight Ridder as a Washington correspondent.
