Alexandra Steigrad, the media editor at Women’s Wear Daily, has been hired by the New York Post to cover the media industry.
She will start at the Post shortly after Thanksgiving.
“Media is one of the most dynamic beats in journalism today,” said Steigrad. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from the best at WWD. While leaving is bittersweet, I’m excited to continue reporting on media at The New York Post — a must-read for media news.”
Last month, Claire Atkinson, the senior media business reporter at the Post, left the paper for a job covering the same beat at NBC News.
Steigrad has been the media editor at WWD since August 2013, writing and editing its daily Memopad column, and directing media coverage across the company’s national and international bureaus. She covers the business side of media and changes in journalism, as well as the intersection between culture, celebrity and technology.
Before that, Steigrad covered the accessories, legal and retail beats for the publication.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a master’s in journalism from Northwestern University.
