Kevin Gale, the editor for the South Florida Business Journal, is leaving the American City Business Journals newspaper to work for a company run by the paper’s former publisher.
The former publisher of the South Florida Business Journal is Gary Press, and he is chairman of Life/Lifestyle Media Group in Fort Lauderdale, which has 10 magazine titles. Gale will become the company’s editor in chief.
His last day at the paper is Wednesday. In an email to Talking Biz News, Gale wrote:
I’ve enjoyed a great 15-year run with American City Business Journals, but I’ve always had an interest in being the top editor in an entrepreneurial organization. This not only fulfills that desire, but Gary and I had a solid track record working together for 10 years at the South Florida Business Journal. He has built a very solid team and stable of magazines, so it’s a great opportunity to continue my professional growth.
Under Gale’s watch, the SFBJ has received numerous awards from the Society for Professional Journalists, the Florida Press Club and the internal competition at American City Business Journals during his tenure. Gale previously worked for 14 years at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel where his last position was editor of the business section for the newspaper. He was also news editor at the Clearwater Sun.
