South Florida Biz Journal refocuses its beats

Mel Melendez, the managing editor of the South Florida Business Journal, writes about the paper’s redesign and how its beats are being restructured.

Melendez writes, “We’ve reinvented our newsroom to deliver the business intelligence you need to compete and win in today’s digitally based business world. So whether you’re reading our news in print, on this website, via mobile or all of the above, you’ll continue to gain access to the information you need to grow your business.

“Refocusing our reporter beats on four core coverage areas – Breaking Ground, Economic Development, Money and Venture – is an integral part of our reinvention. This allows the reporters to aim higher than ever to produce content that takes you far beyond the headlines, offering a level of insight that can’t be found anywhere else.

“Some of our enhanced offerings will seem familiar: in-depth cover stories on the most compelling issues impacting South Florida businesses; reporter pages highlighting the most important developments in our chief coverage areas; and our ever-popular Lists. But they’ll be supersized versions – business news on steroids, if you will – with additional content offered here and via social media.”
